Tuesday 19th – no class Wednesday 20th – Period 3&4 Period 3: Students focus on them, metaphor and personification in the poem ‘Inner City’ by Lucille Clifton and ‘City’ by Langston Hughes. Period 4: Sustained Silent reading in the library. Homework: Students work on response journal companying these two poems. Thursday 21st – Period 4 Students annotate ‘My Garden’ by Redmond Philips, focusing on the poet’s intention voice, the choices of mood, tone, voice, and language to convey particular messages. Friday 22nd –Period 3 Students annotate ‘The Small Window’ by RS Thomas, focusing on exploring language and thoughts connected to the senses and feelings.
